put asunder

Matthew 19:6–“Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”–“twain” refers to the two spoken of by the Pharisees. This was a question about two people in a marriage but the woman could have been one of several wives. Jesus was referring back to the question of the divorce of that particular wife from particular husband, who could have had several wives. And in referencing the particular case, it makes sense to refer to they twain. Each marriage as well as each divorce is a one to one process just as our relationship with the Lord is One to one. But that doesn’t mean the Lord has only one that believes in Him. I hope you have that kind of a personal relationship with the Lord.
